QUEEN’S PARK, ON – Today, Stephen Blais, MPP for Orléans, will introduce legislation that, if passed, would provide Ontario families with pocketbook relief when they enroll their children in sports and extracurricular activities.

The Prioritizing Leisure Activities for Youth Act (the P.L.A.Y. Act) proposes the creation of a $1,000 non-refundable tax credit to make extracurricular activities more affordable. This ranges from sports, to piano lessons, to drama classes, and everything in between.

"Life is less affordable under this government, and Ontario’s Liberals are stepping up to the plate with a simple solution to help families save money and promote healthy living for our kids."

Bonnie Crombie, Leader of Ontario’s Liberals
"Sports and extracurricular activities are an essential element of growing up in an abundant Ontario. Costs should not be a barrier to the academic, health and social benefits extracurricular activities offer."

Stephen Blais, MPP for Orléans

Carter Brownlee

Press Secretary, Ontario Liberal Party
