SCARBOROUGH, ON – Andrea Hazell, a small business owner and the President and Chair of the Scarborough Business Association, has been appointed as the next Ontario Liberal candidate for Scarborough—Guildwood.
“Andrea’s energy, enthusiasm, and passion toward building up Scarborough is remarkable,” said MPP John Fraser, Interim Leader of the Ontario Liberal Party. “Andrea is a great addition to our team and I look forward to having her join us at Queen’s Park.”
Andrea Hazell has over three decades of experience in the financial industry, and has held countless leadership roles within the Retail, Commercial and Wealth Banking arenas. In recognition of her outstanding work in support of the business community in Scarborough, she was elected President and Chair of the Scarborough Business Association in November 2019.
As the founder of Winspire National Women's Network Foundation, Hazell has been a leading figure in the drive for women's empowerment and gender equality. She has brought her extensive experience in business, philanthropy, and community advocacy, establishing a vibrant, nationwide network designed to uplift and support women from all walks of life.
Under her leadership, the foundation has curated a diverse range of programs and services, providing support for newcomers, women with disabilities, victims of abuse, women re-entering the workforce, and post-secondary students. Hazell's commitment to women's empowerment is evident in her organization of numerous high-profile events, including the Winspire National Women's Network-Women In Business Summit, providing professional development and networking opportunities for all women.
Hazell has also served as Chair and Leader of the Caribbean Philanthropic Council for the past five years, where she has led an organization of dedicated individuals focused on promoting health, wellness and philanthropy within the Canadian Caribbean community – including hosting events that raise funds to purchase state-of-the-art equipment for Scarborough hospitals.
“I have a winning track record of delivering results for our community, and I’m ready to bring that same drive and determination to serve the people of Scarborough–Guildwood at Queen's Park,” said Hazell.
