ONTARIO LIBERALS TAKE IMPORTANT STEP FORWARD IN PREPARING FOR 2026 ELECTION CAMPAIGN

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
September 10, 2022

TORONTO, ON — Today, over 600 Liberals from across the province came together to debrief on the 2022 provincial election and begin charting a path to victory in 2026.

The Ontario Liberal convention, which featured sessions with past candidates, party volunteers, campaign strategists and industry experts, provided an opportunity for Ontario Liberals to have their voices heard and directly guide the party’s growth and next steps.

“The enthusiasm and level of engagement we witnessed today was incredible,” said MPP John Fraser, Interim Leader of the Ontario Liberal Party. “It’s clear that Liberals province-wide are determined to fight for a better Ontario and build a strong movement focused on ensuring a brighter future for this province.”

In addition to today’s debrief sessions, Dr. Adil Shamji, MPP for Don Valley East, announced the Liberals’ new healthcare campaign, Patients Not Profits, that invites Ontarians to join the fight against Doug Ford’s healthcare privatization agenda.

“When it comes to your health, the primary concern should be what’s in your best interest, not the bottom line or the value of a stock,” said MPP Adil Shamji. “Simply put, we need to relieve the strain on our system and allocate more public funding for mental health, medications, primary care and homecare so that you can get the care you need when and where you need it.”

Saturday’s event is a culmination of months of hard work from the Ontario Liberals’ Campaign Debrief Committee, which is working closely with members, volunteers, and candidates to ensure the party has a strong foundation on which to mount a successful campaign next election.

In the coming weeks, the Campaign Debrief Committee will publish a formal report outlining their full findings and recommendations. More information will become available at ontarioliberal.ca.
