Greenbelt Foundation Appointment Wrong and a Brazen Conflict: MPP Fraser

QUEEN'S PARK – John Fraser, Interim Leader of the Ontario Liberal Party and MPP for Ottawa South, has released the following statement:

“Every day, we learn something new that makes it even more evident that all roads lead back to the Premier’s office in this $8.3 Billion backroom deal.

“It’s incredible that the Premier’s office would appoint Susan McGovern as vice chair of the Greenbelt Foundation, given that both her brother and her husband lobbied the Provincial Government to crack open the Greenbelt.

“It’s hard to believe that while brown envelopes were being handed to Ford Government staffers, that a family member of those who would benefit financially from this deal, was vice-chair of an organization whose mandate is to preserve and protect the Greenbelt.

“This is simply wrong and just another reason why Ontarians are losing trust in Premier Ford and his Government.

“The Premier needs to reverse this $8.3 Billion backroom deal.”
