Ford’s Do-Nothing Budget Leaves Families Behind, Benefits Wealthy Conservative Insiders
Never Has a Government Spent so Much to Accomplish so Little

QUEEN’S PARK, ON – Ontario’s Liberals are slamming the Conservatives for introducing another uninspired, unambitious, do-nothing budget that puts Doug Ford’s wealthy friends and well-connected insiders ahead of Ontario families.
The 2024-25 budget will spend a record $214.5 billion, while accomplishing so little for families struggling to find a family doctor, put their children in daycare, or afford skyrocketing rent increases.
In fact, the Conservatives will cut healthcare spending at a time when 2.2 million Ontarians can’t find a family doctor and thousands of emergency room closures are taking place each year.
“This is a do-nothing budget. It’s not worth the paper it’s printed on. The Minister concedes economic growth is down and the debt and deficit are up, but he does nothing to help families and local businesses who are struggling.
The sad reality is Doug Ford has no intention of making life better for Ontario families and businesses. He is deliberately refusing to fund healthcare, education and the public services we all rely upon. He is choosing to undercut our public institutions so he can further his privatization agenda and help his rich insider friends make more money.”
— Bonnie Crombie, Leader of Ontario’s Liberals
“Never has a government spent so much to deliver so little, and the people of Ontario are the ones who are paying the price. The Conservatives’ poor fiscal management has left no room for error.
There is nothing new in this budget to help families deal with the affordability crisis, to help build healthy communities or to grow our economy. Their privatization agenda is costing us more while damaging the public services we rely on."

It’s time for a government that cares about real people in Ontario. It’s time for a government that puts you, your family and your community first.
In 2026, Ontario’s Liberals will defeat and replace this scandal-plagued government with a strong team ready to roll up our sleeves and tackle the tough challenges this province is facing.
